The Old Castle Terrace, Lawrenny, Pembrokeshire, Wales SA68 0PP

One of the many things that sets The Big Retreat Wales apart from other festivals is the stunning setting.

The Old Castle Terrace

As the name suggests there did in fact used to be a Castle here. Lawrenny Castle was a large towered and turreted mansion, typical of the mid 19th century but it was demolished in the 1950's. The Terrace still exists and the grass that sweeps down to the Cleddau are the remains of an old deer park which is now used for grazing organic Calon Wen dairy herds.

Pembrokeshire is world-reknowned for its wonderful beaches but there are also many other beautiful parts of the county. Lawrenny really is one of Pembrokeshire's hidden gems. Only 20-30 minutes from the Coast, Lawrenny is hidden from many of the tourist trails but situated on the Cleddau Estuary it is a peaceful haven loved by those who live in it and those who visit. In fact, you may have recently seen Lawrenny featured on the Channel 4 TV Show "Penelope Keith's Hidden Villages".
