“We were lucky enough to win tickets and glamping for this event. We also brought our two sceptical teens with us. Thank you Amber and crew for such an amazing weekend. By Saturday breakfast, I was already being made to promise 'we can come back next year' and the weekend just got better and better. I've tried new classes, and done lots of yoga, the Teens tried new things and the other half enjoyed switching off. Just a brilliant weekend. Thank you”. Elizabeth
“Such an amazing experience... everyone involved were so amazing! Such a mix of complimentary events going on... in 2.5 days (of the 4 day event) we managed to enjoy 9.5hrs Yoga and 4hrs of exercise classes, learn an essential oils hand massage, Lino cut workshop, a gin workshop, an ultimate tray bake workshop and a creatives business workshop and eat lots of vegan ice cream and pizza and beautiful views... loved it!! The Big Retreat 2018 by Chris-Manawydan

'Many will take home their own memories. The Big Retreat from me to you was the mindful collective of a wellbeing spirit over Lawrenny.

The wellbeing spirit ebbed & flowed from dawn to dusk like the tidal flow of the river Daugleddau.

The flow of the river is akin to the spirit of life that ebbed its way through the retreat bringing a sense of joy & serenity to it's visitors along its mysterious leys.

The mysterious leys converge on the retreat, channeling the chakra energy of the yogis and heightening the creative spirit of the bard & ovate amongst us.

The main stage for me was the walled platform of the Old Castle Terrace that overlooks an epic panorama of overwhelming natural wonder.

You cannot but stand & stare in stillness & wonder of the natural beauty of the tranquil ria that is the flooded drowned valley of the upper Daugleddau estuary.

You cannot but resonate at one with the natural energy created by the convergence of the Creswell & Carew rivers into Y Daugleddau.

When we take the time to look at the way we see things, the way we see things changes.

To meditate in the Awareness of being Aware is to picture how the ria was formed by the glacial erosion of a river valley that was drowned by rapid sea level rise at the end of the last Ice Age some 12,000 years ago.

To meditate in the Moment, at low tide of the river, is to be in awe of the tranquil landscape of the upper ria where the mud banks and salt marshes of the estuary meet the rolling lowland landscape of mixed fields & woodlands.

To meditate in the moment, at high tide of the river, is to be in awe of the changed landscape of the flooded ria where the mud banks & salt marshes of the river are no more and the river banks are now fringed by the lowland woodlands and a mosaic of mixed fields.

Just as the rivers will continue to converge, and the landscape continues to change with the ebb & flow of the tide, we live in hope that the wellbeing spirit of the retreat returns to its new ancestral home."
